10 Day Patmos trip

Patmos, an Aegean island in the north of Greece’s Dodecanese island group

Day 1

We (Andy & Carole) greet you at Kos airport and then a 10 minute drive will bring you to the Port of Kardamena where “Zeus Too” awaits you. Relax and unpack and then really start your Greek holiday with a traditional meze at a local taverna overlooking Kardamena Harbour. Your first night aboard your luxury motor yacht.

Day 2

Your first morning aboard, we have a leisurely breakfast in the shade on the aft deck, al fresco and a chat about the days sailing and how you would like to spend your day, for example whether you would like a long leisurely lunch or more time to explore the island or port of the day. We then up anchor to start your Island Hopping Adventures. Our first lunch time anchorage is a little bay on the island of Pserimos, with time to swim or just relax before heading to the small port of Pserimos. We arrive late afternoon as the last of the day tripper boats leave. You have time to stroll through the port and swim in the now deserted beach. Your evening meal is quite literally a taverna on the beach.

Day 3

After breakfast we leave Pserimos to the uninhabited island of Plati for our lunchtime anchorage. After lunch we head to Kalymnos and the picturesque fjord like inlet of Vathy, where we anchor overnight in the Port of Rina. You can swim from the boat or paddle board to the cave swing or for those of you who are adventurous try cliff jumping like a local! Your evening meal will be enjoyed in one of the surrounding tavernas. Back onboard for the night, ready for another day and another bay.

Day 4

After breakfast we travel at a gentle pace to the next island, Leros and our overnight anchorage in Pandeli. This is a pretty horseshoe shaped bay with the traditional blue and white house’s adorning the hill side. Here you have plenty of time to swim from the boat, or go ashore to explore or for those who are feeling energetic hike to Pandeli Castle and enjoy the spectacular views. We take you ashore in the RIB for your evening meals in one of the many tavernas along the bay. Back on board for a nightcap and maybe a late night swim with our underwater lights illuminating the sea.

Day 5

After breakfast we head off in a northerly direction to the island of Patmos, arriving in plenty of time to explore the famous monastery island. The monastery of St John is really well worth a visit and is a world heritage site. The view is breathtaking, however the attractions of the island are not just for the culture/history buffs, there are dozens of beautiful bays and beaches to explore or wander through the port of Skala, with their lovely shops and tavernas. Another evening spent tasting the truly wonderful local cuisine in a taverna of your choice.

Day 6

A leisurely start to the day and the morning spent in Skala before leaving the main harbour and staying on Patmos we head to Gricos, a sheltered haven with a couple of Tavernas and swimming from the boat. We anchor here for the day and overnight. An enjoyable relaxing day swimming, reading, soaking up the rays and of course a couple of ice cold drinks. In the evening we dinghy ashore for your evening meal.

Day 7

Waking up for another leisurely breakfast before heading in easterly direction to the charming island of Lipsi also known as Lipso, for peace and tranquility Lipsi is top of the list. Arriving in time for lunch on board before setting off to explore the island and it’s many sandy beaches (all within walking distance of the Port). Search for the perfect taverna for your evening meal.

Day 8

After breakfast in this idyllic setting we leave the port and head south to the island of Leros. Stopping for lunch in one of the many bays along the way. Arriving in Lakki Marina late afternoon, you will have time to wander around the picturesque harbour. Lakki has many shops, cafes and tavernas and also has an underground World War 2 museum, which is well worth a visit. Another evening spent ashore tasting the local cuisine. Back onboard for a nightcap under the stars.

Day 9

We head further South back to Kalymnos, this time on the west side and we stop and the infamous Pirate Bay….here we have lunch ashore with the obligatory ouzo! After lunch its up anchor to our next port, Pothia. This is the capital and main port of Kalymnos and is a very picturesque town with the brightly coloured houses built amphitheatrically around the port. Here you will have plenty of time to explore the town and browse through the many shops and winding streets, pick up a sponge or two, as this is the famous sponge island…sit with a coffee and watch the world go by. Check out the tavernas to decide where you would like to eat tonight.
